Petit Barbeau Gadjo Orchestre plays gypsy jazz the way the original inhabitants of Jupiter’s southern hemisphere supposedly did. The trio features Thimo Gijezen on guitar, double bass, piano and vocals, Florian Verhagen on guitar, and Jeroen Verberne on sousaphone, trombone and shells. With mostly original material and wildly idiosyncratic reworks of familiar tunes, they deliver a party of recognition you’ve never actually heard before. Expect gypsy jazz with virtuosic solos, driving rhythms, joyful and melancholic tones, but with a distinctly Jovian twist.
